Crust takes on the US
In an ambitious move Crust has announced their launch on the US market. Find out more in this interview with their MD, Costa Anastasiadis.
QSR Media: The US - why does this make sense for Crust?
Costa: The United States is an exciting prospect for Crust with its comparatively large population, similar taste palate, and increasing preference for healthier alternatives to current takeaway offerings.
QSR Media: Do you have a local partner in the US you are rolling out the stores with?
Costa: Yes, we wanted to ensure we found the right fit to roll out Crust. We’ve been in discussions for over 18 months with our Master Franchisees.
QSR Media: How do the occupancy costs compare to Australia?
Costa: They are comparable to Australia, and our strategy of targeting high profile strips in prime locations will remain the same in the US.
QSR Media: 50-100 Stores planned for the US - have you targeted any areas?
Costa: The base of our launch in the US is focusing on the West Coast of America where Crust is a natural fit. There are 12 stores planned to open in LA over the next six months.
QSR Media: What changes have you had to make to the menu for the US market?
Costa: We have made some small tweaks to our US Menu, but the core pizzas and ingredients will remain the same.
