Below is a Q&A with Julie Proctor, Sunny Queen National Manager of Marketing & Innovation.
QSR Media: What inspired the brand to create omelette patties?
Proctor: We know that more than 65 percent of Australians eat breakfast on the go - and the number is growing.
With longer working days and more breakfasts skipped, more and more Australians are looking for REAL, nutritious, satisfying breakfasts they can eat on the go.
So as Australia's leading egg brand, Sunny Queen Australia decided to develop the Omelette Patties as a convenient, cost effective, versatile and delicious option for foodservice outlets.
Made from fresh Sunny Queen eggs, with only the finest ingredients and without artificial colours or flavours, the Omelette Patties can be ready to build upon in less than 60 seconds. A quick, easy, nutritious and delicious breakfast on the go.
QSR Media: What were the challenges encountered during the product's development?
Proctor: Eggs are one of the most nutritious foods on the planet, but mastering a "heat and eat" egg omelette patty, that can transform from a snap-frozen patty to a hot and delicious omelette-to-go in under 60 seconds has taken literally years of R&D.
It was also important that we used no artificial flavours or colours, just real, fresh eggs and quality ingredients.
QSR Media: What's unique about it?
Proctor: Sunny Queen Patties are unique in that they offer a delicious, real egg omelette that is ready to serve from frozen in just 60 seconds!
We've locked in the nutritious goodness of fresh farm eggs, packed with quality protein and 11 vitamins and minerals, so our customers can serve up a tasty, filling, real egg breakfast to their customers in seconds.
They're also really versatile, allowing our customers to add their own special touches, to build their own style of breakfast sandwich.
QSR Media: How has the response been with your customers?
Proctor: Our Sunny Queen Omelette Patties have been received with great enthusiasm.
Customers have really embraced the concept and reported excellent results from a wide variety of cooking methods - from microwaving to grilling, or oven baking.
Some of our customers even pop them on the BBQ! Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive about the ease of preparation, quality and versatility.
Sunny Queen Omelette Patties make preparing a nutritious, hot breakfast on the go achievable, even in the most fast-paced kitchen or canteen.
QSR Media: Are you planning to introduce more flavours to the patty range?
Proctor: We have launched with three of the most popular omelette varieties: Cheese & Bacon, Fetta & Spinach, and the classic Plain egg omelette, all of which are also Gluten free. But watch this space for more varieties in the coming months.
QSR Media: How do you think it will fare in the Aussie market?
Proctor: With more than 65% (and growing) of Australians eat breakfast on the go, longer working days and more breakfasts skipped, more and more of us are looking for nutritious, filling breakfasts we can eat on the go.
We believe Sunny Queen Omelette Patties ideally fit the bill so we're confident Australians will welcome this innovative breakfast on the go solution from Australia's leading egg brand.
