Donut King unveils emoji donuts

The brand launched a new range of edible donut emojis, allowing customers to express their emotions and eat them too.

Donut King Head of Product Development Scott Anderson said emojis aren’t just for sharing online.

“Emojis have broken free from the internet and onto clothes, cushions and from today, donuts!” Anderson said.

“Emoji donuts are a first of their kind and exclusive to Donut King. The specialty donuts are covered in white icing with blue, pink, red, yellow or brown sprinkles, each with an edible image of an emoji.”

Donut King’s emoji donuts feature five emojis: ‘Face with Tears of Joy’, ‘Face Throwing a Kiss’, ‘Heart Eyes’, ‘Winking’ and ‘Tongue-out’.

Anderson said he could see consumers taking the donuts along to birthday parties, enjoyed with friends, given as gifts to celebrate special occasions or eaten alone – as long as they are captured first on Instagram or Facebook, of course.

“Emojis have become a way to express feelings and some believe they are more accurate than words,” he said.

“This product gives donut lovers a new way of expressing their feelings – what better way to tell someone how you feel than with an edible emoji.”

Donut King’s new emoji donuts are available in store until October 16.
