Domino's strengthen criteria to all supplier's ingredients
In effort to offer fresher items.
The pizza chain recently pledged to remove artificial ingredients. This initiative follows Domino's effort to reduce sodium, fats and sugars in their ingredients in the last three years.
According to Stefaan Codron, Global Development Chef of Domino's, since making the commitment three years ago, the company has strengthened its criteria so all suppliers ingredients meet their new standards.
"We heard from our customers that they want to avoid purchasing products containing GMO’s and we want to be in the position to offer our customers products they are seeking but keep the great standard of taste," he told QSR Media. "It is important for us as a business to listen to what our customers want and strive to provide the best quality food at high value prices."
Now that the pizza chain has also pledged to remove artificial ingredients, a challenge Domino's is keen on continuing to succeed in is keeping the taste of its menu items the same.
"It’s imperative that we keep the same great taste in all of our products that customers know and love. This will be our number one priority," said Codron.
"We are such a busy company that our food products are used quickly so we don’t need to use preservatives in our food to keep them on the shelf. We have a set of rules and procedures about keeping our food fresh on our make line and we will continue to update these procedures as we roll out this initiative," he added.
