Subway launches campaign featuring a song by rock band 10CC
A blast from the past.
The national advertising campaign kicked off this week, featuring the 70’s power ballad ‘I’m not in love’ by rock band, 10CC, to promote the launch of “The Great Steak Range.”
Available for a limited time, the range includes three steak sub options: the classic favourite Steak and Cheese, Steak, Bacon and Cheese and the new taste sensation - Steak, Caramelised Onion and Cheese.
The brand noted that in the TVC, the lyrics in the ballad are used to express the undeniable taste satisfaction that SUBWAY steak lovers experience when they eat their steak sub for the first time.
"The inspiration for this commercial came from the fact that the subs available in 'The Great Steak Range' including the new Steak, Caramelised Onion and Cheese sub, taste so good that you just might fall in love with them. Hence the campaign line 'Try Not To Fall in Love,'” explained the Subway Marketing Team.
"The smile factor comes with the words and the vision in essence contradicting each other. The song croons ‘I’m not in love’, but the vision shows people who are clearly are in love with their sub."
Regional Marketing Director of Subway Australia and New Zealand, Gina Kahler believes the campaign is a fun way for customers to share their love of SUBWAY. “Our Steak and Cheese sub has always been popular with our customers, but now for a limited time they can enjoy a new flavour on a classic favourite - we think they’re going to love it!”
The Subway Marketing Team added, "This campaign is almost guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The expressions on the faces of the talent in the TVC conjure smiles each and every time. In addition the music track, both tune and lyrics, is very memorable. These two elements come together to form a strong campaign promoting a premium product."
The Steak, Caramelised Onion and Cheese and Steak, Bacon and Cheese subs are available for a limited time only at participating Subway restaurants.
