McDonald's launches Facebook app with Spotify

‘The Social Playlist by Macca’s’ app is the first fully- integrated Facebook app in Australia to utilise the Spotify music platform and share capabilities.

In a release, McDonald’s launched  a Spotify application via their Facebook page. The app ‘The Social Playlist by Macca’s’ is the first fully- integrated Facebook app in Australia to utilise the Spotify music platform and share capabilities. McDonald’s is one of four launch partners of Spotify, the award-winning digital music service that gives you on-demand access to over 16 million tracks.

"The partnership provides an opportunity to create deeper engagement with their Facebook fans. ‘The Social Playlist by Macca’s’ allows fans to introduce their friends to the McDonald’s Facebook page, contribute to the creation of the ultimate social playlist, and consequently rewards them with the chance to win a 12 month Spotify Premium Account."

"This campaign follows the highly popular ‘Big Mac Farm Challenge’ - a social game launched via the McDonald’s Facebook page in March 2012, which achieved over 130,000 game plays in just three months. OMD Fuse manages all of McDonald’s social media activities and has run the McDonald’s Australia Facebook page since its launch in March 2011. Joanne Liddell, Head of OMD Fuse Sydney said, 'We anticipated that the launch of Spotify in Australia would generate a lot of hype and it is a great fit for the core fan base on the McDonald’s Australia Facebook page.'"

"She continues, 'We’re always looking at new ways to engage our fans and provide them with a unique experience. We are excited that we have been able to make the launch partnership work harder, to deliver innovative integration that utilises the Spotify music platform to engage the McDonald’s Facebook community and deliver  an Australian market first'"

"Helen Lecopoulos, National Media & Sponsorship Manager, McDonald’s said 'This campaign is another example of the direction McDonald’s Australia is taking; exploring new ways to connect with consumers, and leveraging successful partnerships to deliver useful, relevant and shareable content to its social  community.'"
