Jamaica Blue to hold a champion cook-off featuring six professional cooks
From across Australia and New Zealand.
The chains annual competition dubbed as the Jamaica Blue Golden Cuisine Competition Grand Final Cook-Off will be held this Thursday, 31 July, at the FOODCO Training Academy in Sydney.
The six Grand Finalists will compete as part of a team and individually in a showcase of their culinary knowledge and skills.
According to the chain, on the day of the cook-off, the six competing finalists will be split into two teams for a two and a half hour 'Mystery Kitchen Challenge' that will call on each group to expertly prepare and serve distinctive and seasonal dishes. The specific guidelines for the challenge will not be revealed to the contestants until the day itself.
Individual challenges includes a demonstration of knife skills and a blindfold test where each contestant will be asked to identify 10 types of chocolate items, among others.
Master Chocolatier for Lindt Australia, Thomas Schnetzler, will serve on the Grand Final judging panel. He will score the finalists based on their food knowledge, kitchen skills and taste and presentation of their competition dishes, and also their compliance with food safety standards and time-management skills.
