The Colonel pinks up for the McGrath Foundation

KFC announced today that $1 from every KFC bucket sold from the 3rd to the 9th of January will be donated to the McGrath Foundation.

The week long initiative is part of the ‘KFC Pink Bucket’ project which began earlier this month and aims to raise thousands of dollars for the McGrath Foundation through KFC stores across the nation. These funds will provide invaluable support for the charity which aims to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses right across the country to support Australian families experiencing breast cancer, while at the same time increasing breast care awareness in younger women.

Throughout December, KFC spearheaded the ‘Pass the Pink Bucket’ project which has seen a specially created pink KFC bucket travel around the nation, stopping off at selected KFC stores to collect donations for the McGrath Foundation.

The tour has had the support of great Australian cricketers, including Andrew McDonald and Nathan Bracken, and has covered a distance of over 4000 kilometres, touching down in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.

“We’re hoping to sell tens of thousands of buckets and raise a lot of money for the McGrath Foundation,” says Nikki Lawson, KFC’s chief marketing officer. “We estimate that around $100,000 will be raised in the week, which will go a long way towards helping fund additional McGrath Breast Care Nurses across the country. We’re urging our fans to head in-store and help support this great cause.”

Commenting on the initiative, McGrath Foundation CEO, Kylea Tink, said the charity couldn’t be more grateful for the support shown by KFC.

“When Jane passed away just over two and a half years ago we had just four McGrath Breast Care Nurses working in the community. Today, thanks largely to the amazing amount of support we have had from people right across the country we now have McGrath Breast Care Nurses in 61 locations across Australia offering support to over 6,500 families – a fact that we couldn’t be prouder of.

“Even so, we’re very conscious there are still families and communities out there that need access to the support that can be offered by our amazing McGrath Breast Care Nurses and initiatives such as this one, really do help us in raising the funds to keep growing our Breast Care Nurse numbers,” said Kylea.

“In this context we’re so grateful for KFC’s friendship and truly think it’s the perfect way to go pink over the summer of cricket.”

KFC is calling on all Australians to head in-store and support the McGrath Foundation from the 3rd to the 9th of January. All 600 stores across the country have been collecting donations over a ten-week period, and will be donating $1 from every bucket sold to the McGrath Foundation this week.
