SumoSalad says incident involving public health warning isolated
SumoSalad has issued a statement saying it is doing everything in its power to ensure the safety of customers.
Below is part of SumoSalad’s statement in response to a public health warning issued from NSW Health:
This was an isolated incident at one store in Westpac Place, Kent Street, Sydney. No other stores have been affected. The individual employee, who contracted the virus while overseas, is no longer working in the store.
During the review with the NSW Food Authority, they acknowledged that SumoSalad was compliant with all food safety regulations. They determined there was no further risk of infection.
We are proactively working with the NSW Food Authority and NSW Health to address the very small probability that the employee may have transferred the virus to members of the public.
If you ate at SumoSalad in Westpac Place, Kent Street, Sydney between Thursday 19 July and Thursday 26 July you may need to receive a hepatitis A vaccine. Patrons who ate from Wednesday 11 July to Wednesday 18 July are still at risk of hepatitis, but as the vaccine is only effective within 2 weeks of exposure, these people are not recommended to have a vaccine, but should visit their GP if they develop symptoms.
