Pizza Capers expects 75% more pizza sales during Melbourne Cup

That is 35% more than what they had for Will and Kate’s wedding earlier this year.

According to a release, gourmet pizza brand Pizza Capers will be setting a few records of its own on Melbourne Cup Day today as tens of thousands of Australians chow down on gourmet pizza.

Pizza Capers co-founder Scott Geiszler said he expected a 75 per cent increase in pizza sales, 35 per cent more than for Will and Kate’s wedding day earlier this year.

The company is expecting to use enough pizza boxes during the ‘Race that Stops the Nation’ to go around the Flemington Race track 50 times when stacked end to end.

The gourmet pizza brand is also expected to use at least 4500kg of large prawns, 7200 bags of 10kg flour, 24 tonnes of mozzarella cheese, 12 tonnes of pepperoni and ham, three tonnes of garlic, three tonnes of roasted peppers, seven tonnes of hormone-free chicken breast, 10 tonnes of the finest Angus beef and four and a half tonnes of Tasmanian Lamb.

“The Melbourne Cup is one of the most highly anticipated social events of the year and one of our biggest trading days,” Mr Geiszler said.

“We have already received advance orders from offices and private parties from around Australia who are looking for delicious, gourmet catering.

“Melbourne Cup is a day when people like to celebrate and spoil themselves with better quality food for their functions and this is why Pizza Capers gets such a massive uplift in catering orders.

“We believe sales will surpass that of Will and Kate’s wedding day earlier this year.”
