Muffin Break barista wins second place at Melbourne International Coffee Expo
Muffin Break Barista Champion Michael Byrne was trained by Foodco’s Simon Au-Yeung prior to the Davinci Coffee Chain Championship.
Byrne of Muffin Break Robina on Queensland’s Gold Coast was able to compete at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo after defeating more than 300 baristas from across Australia and New Zealand in the 2012 Muffin Break Barista Championships in April.
The aspiring coffee consultant’s ‘Blue Juice’ signature beverage contained a reduction of blueberries with star anise, white chocolate, and a sprinkling of sugar over a shot of espresso.
MICE was held from 4-6 May at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
