Mobile coffee van industry booms in NZ
Despite recently reported consumption trends.
Cafe 2 U reported that the coffee consumption in New Zealand continues to rise, despite a recent study conducted by the Roy Morgan Research, which concluded that there has been very minimal growth in this sector.
The brand also indicated that the study's report showed that 56% of the people in New Zealand have bought a coffee in a café in the past three months.
However, Cafe 2 U suggested that report overlooked the mobile coffee van industry in the nation, which on the contrary is a booming sector.
The mobile coffee van franchise reported that since its establishment is August 2012, Cafe 2 U experienced an exponential growth, expanding from zero to 7 franchises in the last 8 months.
Derek Black, Managing Director of Cafe 2 U, commented, “That 56% figure is a stunning statistic but the report has overlooked the mobile coffee van sector, which makes up a significant part of the barista-made coffee industry. Despite the findings, from our perspective Cafe2U has not seen a plateau in coffee consumption at all. In fact, we have seen huge growth in the area since launching in New Zealand last year."
Cafe2U provides Mercedes Benz vans that house coffee making equipment, which can easily pull outside work places and events, making it a flexible and convenient alternative to cafes.
"The industry is transforming and with the advancement in technology, mobile coffee vans can offer high quality barista coffee to consumers. This sector should be considered a part of the greater coffee landscape in New Zealand," further added Black.
