The Cheesecake Shop bags prestigious awards

The team were overall winners in two categories.

Karen Bawden, owner of The Cheesecake Shop Willows, won several awards at the recent National Baking Association Industry awards for North Queensland.

Bawden and her team were awarded gold medals for cold set cheesecake and world of chocolates themed cake. The team was also recognised as overall category winners in the two categories.

In addition, the team also won a silver medal for taste-tested cupcakes and a bronze medal for decorated cupcakes.

“One of the main judges complimented me on how smooth and light our cheesecake was and said he was happy that it came from a Cheesecake Shop as it shows we are good at what we do. He also complimented the cupcake flavours as being the most innovative that he’d had tasted so far in judging at shows and was genuinely shocked at the candied bacon pieces as he had never had them!

“ It was great win for my whole team and support staff including Sandy + Liaison - chief taste testers, Tracey - ideas woman, Kirk – ideas woman, Anna - transport assistance and Sue - food critic. All were instrumental in aiding me for the win and I can never say enough nice things about my team!” commented Bawden.
