From Pop-up's to individual store fits outs, The Beach Burrito company surprises

In this interview with their founder & MD Blake Read talks about their pop-up store in the Jindabyne slope and how he is going to grow his brand.

QSR Media: Tell us about The Beach Burrito company?

Blake: Beach Burrito is a pretense free, cheap and healthy ‘Fast Casual’ restaurant that has adapted to its local surroundings. Mixing Australian beach side culture with fast yet healthy Mexican-style food, Beach Burrito is a fun and laid back eatery that is by no means intimidating nor flashy. Welcoming staff keep things casual with FUN being the driving force of the company.

Each restaurant has its own personality custom to its local environment with no two restaurants the same. BBC’s look & feel captures the essence and nostalgia of the local art, music, surf, skate & snow communities. Giving it a customized feel when you walk in the door, successfully separating itself from the common sterile franchise model. Beach Burrito Company has the freedom to do as it pleases and go where other restaurants dare not.

QSR Media: Your pop-up store at the snow, what kind of reception has it had?

Blake: The Jindy pop up store has been very successful so much so that we will more than likely keep it as a seasonal store. It allows us to offer our Sydney based staff a place to go have some fun, work and stay in the Burrito house. It has opened our brand up to a group of customers who had previously not experienced us allowing our brand to arrive in their locations before us. The town has welcomed us with open arms, we are an exciting addition to a town that is packed with traditional expensive style restaurants. Jindy has been a breath of fresh air into my world as well. I'm sure as many of your readers can relate to this is a busy landscape and opening a store that is all about fun has been exactly that – I don’t get a chance take holidays or really take weekends that often but I have a store in a small town at the snow and when I get there I have FUN FUN FUN!!

QSR Media: What are some of the biggest hurdles you have faced growing your brand?

Blake: Finding ideal locations and staff I still find to be the biggest daily hurdle.

QSR Media: What are some of your goals for the next 12 months?

Blake: I would love to go surfing more.. It is the thing I think most about these days big goal. Apart from that I plan to double EBITA without doubling the locations.
