KFC launches digital goal-setting program for employees
KFC Australia announced the launch of #myplan - an industry-first goal-setting program for the brand's 30,000 restaurant employees across Australia.
The chicken chain is offering the interactive online program to employees who want assistance in setting and achieving their personal and career goals, ultimately encouraging goal setting within the brand's employees. These goals could be anything from short terms goals, such as buying a new car, to long term career goals like becoming a teacher.
KFC Australia said, "The company has a clear responsibility to give its employees the best career opportunities, whether that be within the KFC network, or beyond. This is quite a feat for a team of 30,000, but not one that KFC has shied away from. Rather, the business has put its people at the centre of everything it does. This is the KFC People Promise, a simple guarantee which allows our employees to: Be their Best Self, Make a Difference, and Have Fun! In line with this promise, #myplan was developed to improve employee engagement and retention; and to identify a distinct talent pipeline."
The development of the program was made alongside Career Industry Council of Australia, the National Retailers Association and the Department of Education. Several internal workshops were conducted with the key audience, KFC’s team members, as well as other key stakeholders, such as parents. These workshops drove a feedback-led program development process to ensure that the final product met the needs to the target audience.
#myplan provides a framework to engage team members in self-reflection, self-evaluation and SMART goal setting which helps them to understand the employability skills obtained through working at KFC, as well as recognise career opportunities both inside and outside of KFC. The completed plan then forms the base for discussion, support and collaboration with their manager, parents and career advisors to encourage commitment in achieving their goals. To support the managers throughout this process a manager component has also been developed.
