The Coffee Club crowns the 'Best Barista'

Brisbane barista Ashley Jones, from The Coffee Club’s Albert Street store, was named as The Coffee Club’s best barista.

In front of a hometown crowd, Jones faced off against three hopefuls, who each prepared two espressos, two cappuccinos, two lattes and two flat whites in a time trial watched by a crowd in Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall.

The Coffee Club’s General Manger People, Tammy Ryder, said that she was pleased with the quality and number of entrants in this year’s competition.

“We're delighted to be able to recognise our exceptional baristas and provide an incentive for them to really commit to their craft. Each year we see hundreds of outstanding entrants from all around Australia compete to make it to the finals. All entrants have gone through our nationally accredited barista training program, which I’m sure you will agree produces exceptional baristas. This year we are secretly thrilled that a Brisbane-based entrant won this year’s title.”

Jones also received a cheque for $1,000 dollars and a winner’s trophy.

Each year The Coffee Club holds a nation-wide search to find the country’s best barista. This year, the competition attracted more than 600 entrants from Coffee Clubs right across Australia.
