Phil Colburn, Managing Director of Red Rock Noodle Bar
On store interaction, long-term changes and moving forward.
QSR Media: What makes you excited about your position?
Phil Colburn: After nearly 28 years in the industry and a founding member of Red Rock Noodle Bar, watching the brand grow from its origin’s and where it is now and the possibilities of the future, every day is exciting. I just love talking and interacting in the stores with customers, staff and franchisees. The change in people’s awareness of healthier options in the last period opens up so much possibilities.
QSR Media: What 3 goals are you focussed on?
Colburn: Firstly would be franchisee’s growth and development in their store, with support and training. We have also just embarked on a huge marketing survey with Corey Parker & our brand that is huge focus moving forward. New Franchisee development & growth in new areas and current markets to drive the brand further.
QSR Media: What long-term changes are you planning on?
Colburn: Long term changes would be more in the way of improving on what we have already embarked on, not too many major changes. Technology based for training of staff & franchisees, further advancement of our Online ordering, make it even more mobile and accessible. With our marketing just tweak it a little more to ensure we are giving our customers what they are looking for.
QSR Media: What are your key business philosophies?
Colburn: Open and available communication leading by example, keeping finger on the pulse with the key numbers to ensure the focus is maintained on customers and shareholders.
QSR Media: What previous positions prepared you for this one and how?
Colburn: I have been very lucky to be in this industry for over 28 years and work with some key people within the Jack Cowin portfolio in particular Hungry Jacks in the area training and development area, also achieved some great results within the area of operational & sales.
