Survey shows economic uncertainty drives interest in franchises
Almost 200 franchisees found “greater financial potential” as among the top reasons for owning a franchise business.
Aside from “greater work freedom / autonomy,” a survey of 180 new franchisees by ASX-listed food retail franchise owner and manager Retail Food Group also saw “proven business model” and “availability of training and support” as motivators.
RFG National Sales and Leasing Coordination Manager Faith Manning said inquiries from potential franchisees had been strong in recent months.
“As global economic woes continue and uncertainty grows about their current employment arrangements, people are looking to take matters into their own hands and gain some security,” said Manning.
She added, “Yet starting a business from scratch can seem daunting, particularly for those entering a completely new industry, so franchise systems offer a more secure and supported option.”
RFG is the franchisor and intellectual property owner of the Donut King, Michel’s Patisserie, Pizza Capers, Brumby’s Bakeries, bb’s café and Esquires Coffee Houses franchise systems.
