Find out more about Muzz Buzz's big co-branding move with Java Juice

QSR Media sat down with Steve Pynt, Executive Director of Muzz Buzz, to talk about his brand's strategic partnership with Java Juice, as well as its plans for the future.

QSR Media: Can you tell us a little more about the cobranding? How will things change for Muzz Buzz from now on?

Steve Pynt: The decision to co-brand Muzz Buzz and Java Juice was a strategic decision for both companies. For Muzz Buzz it was a strategic decision to grow our business by adding a proven and popular new range of juice and smoothie products to our menu that would boost our sales in the afternoons and the warmer months of the year. It was also about expanding our brand from drive thru and creating opportunities to move into shopping centres and other retail spaces that we haven’t traditionally gone into. For Java Juice the decision to enter into a strategic partnership with Muzz Buzz provides a massive boost in exposure to the Java Juice brand, and we will be working together to roll out Java Juice franchises businesses across Australia and our key international markets. For Muzz Buzz, the change will see new livery on all our drive thru stores, new products on our menus and hopefully new customers drawn to Muzz Buzz by the delicious, natural and healthy Java Juice smoothies and juices.

This co-branding deal has made Java Juice the largest juice retailer in Western Australia overnight and Muzz Buzz Java Juice is the first and largest drive thru juice company in Australia.

QSR Media: How are your customers reacting?

Steve Pynt: Our first co-branded store opened in Rockingham last week and the reaction has been amazing. Rockingham was already a very successful store but we’ve seen a surge in customer traffic since the new livery was put up and the reaction to the Java Juice products has been unanimously positive.

QSR Media: Any other big plans for the year? What about your goals for 2016?

Steve Pynt: In a few weeks’ time Muzz Buzz will be announcing a major new joint venture with one of Australia’s largest companies, which will revolutionise quick service retailing in Australia. The concept will be initially rolled out in Perth and will then progressively rolled out across Australia and internationally. We’ll have more to say about this in a few short weeks. 2016 is a year of growth and opportunity for Muzz Buzz. We’re opening new stores in Australia, New Zealand and Russia in the coming months. We’re rolling out the new Muzz Buzz Java Juice store offering progressively over the new three months and we are constantly innovating and looking for new opportunities to grow.

QSR Media: What can you say are the trends in the market right now? Opportunities?

Steve Pynt: Clearly the economy is challenging, and a number of franchising and QSR brands are struggling and others have closed their doors recently, but for Muzz Buzz and Java Juice its onwards and upwards. We see tremendous growth opportunities in Australia and we are excited by the opportunities to expand our brands internationally. The sky is the limit and we’re very positive about the QSR sector and the potential for growth.

QSR Media: Any other comments?

Steve Pynt: Muzz Buzz and Java Juice have come together to develop a strategic partnership through co-branding as part of a larger strategy to expand and grow our brand and strengthen our businesses. At the heart of it, this deal is about the alignment of our brands and our people with our core values. It’s a win-win situation for all of us.
