More than 150 franchisees of Crust Gourmet Pizza and Pizza Capers attended the first QSR pizza conference. This paved the way for both brands to come together and discuss the brands’ strategic future.

QSR Media: What are the main goals of the conference?

RFG: The main goal of the conference was to bring key stakeholders together in an open forum to discuss the strategic future for Crust Gourmet Pizza and Pizza Capers. It allowed us to answer questions and address concerns relating to the coexistence of both brands.

QSR Media: How has the coexistence of the two brands been since it came under the same ownership?

RFG: The overall sentiment has been very positive from both sets of franchisees. Each marketing, operations and management teams have developed their separate strategies for their brands and together we have been able to outline a strategy for the RFG QSR Division as a whole moving forward. We are all excited for the future of gourmet pizza with these two strong brands at the forefront of the gourmet QSR market.

QSR Media: What do you think are most essential elements in promoting good synergy between the two brands?

RFG: One of the reasons we held this conference was to ensure communication between management and franchisees and throughout the entire QSR Division was open, and we think an essential element to the success of the Division will be communication. As the two brands function under the same ownership we will be striving to create an atmosphere of synergy and friendly competition.

QSR Media: What are the common challenges experienced by the two brands?

RFG: Every business in the QSR industry is facing challenges at the moment, so we are continually striving to innovate and strengthen each brand by carving out our own unique position in the marketplace.

QSR Media: What actions will be taken to strengthen the two pizza brands?

RFG: RFG believes in ‘strength in brands’ and Pizza Capers and Crust now have access to greater economies of scale, knowledge and resources, a broader focus and the benefits that come from a larger support team, which will undoubtedly strengthen each brand and foster new growth.
