Find out how Zambrero responds to the bourgeoning delivery scene

Bianca Azzopardi, general manager of Zambrero, discussed the latest menu offering, as well as the brand's annual meal packing day initiative.

QSR Media: What's new at Zambrero?

QSR Media: How do you stay ahead of the competition with the emerging number of healthy restaurants?

Ensuring our menu remains fresh and current to trends and listening to our customers is extremely important. Zambrero is passionate about launching four products a year that tailor to different trends that align with the overall mission of fresh, healthy Mexican food. Zambrero was the first QSR to nationally launch black rice prior to it becoming a popular superfood, and over the past 12 months Zambrero has launched the first ever 12-inch gluten-free black rice tortilla, our vegan sauce, Trezigo, and our first hot vegetable, Spiced Cauliflower.

QSR Media: What inspired the menu addition?

At Zambrero, we are all about giving customers choice and flexibility which includes bringing creative innovation to the market. We offer menu items that are gluten, dairy and egg free without comprising on flavour. Our new Spiced Cauliflower ensures Zambrero captures the current popularity cauliflower is enjoying in the superfood space whilst catering to the vegetarian and vegan market with non-traditional flavours on a traditional healthy ingredient.

QSR Media: How do you see the changes in the way consumers eat?

Delivery is an area we are seeing substantial growth and we use a combination of third-party operators and in-house delivery drivers. In addition, consumers want choice and at Zambrero, we have built this into our model – we have divided our product range into three categories, classic, IQ and Power ranges. The IQ is food for your mind and Power is food for your body. With each of our categories our customers can choose what they would like and really customize their meal.

QSR Media: Any big plans for the year?

We have our annual meal packing day on Friday 20th October 2017. Zambrero with support of Rise Against Hunger will host its annual meal packing events in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth to pack nutritious meals to be sent to those who need it most.
Zambrero’s Meal Packing Day is a fun community event where our dedicated volunteers work in teams to funnel the ingredients into packages, led by specially trained Zambrero staff members. Fifty people can package 10,000 meals in just a couple of hours!

Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers last year, we packed a record breaking 353,376 meals… And this year, we’re looking to beat that record again!

In addition, we will also have double donations in all our restaurants across Australia so if you can’t make it to one of our events you can simply come in and enjoy lunch or dinner and know you are making a difference.
