SumoSalad teams up with Vinnies to support homeless
The chain will be working with the St Vincent de Paul Society in a drive to support the homeless.
SumoSalad invited its customers to participate in its Heat Up The Street campaign which will last from May to September.
Petra Orrenius, marketing head of SumoSalad, said, “We teamed up with Vinnies since they are trusted charity organisation in Australia where major part of their work is to support people who are at risk or who are experiencing homelessness. The fact that the money raised locally will be used locally to help means that we will be really tapping into the community support.”
She said that soup vans will go across Australia for the campaign, with two major events at Melbourne on May 17, and Martin place on May 19.
Orrenius invited SumoSalad customers to help by paying it forward and donating $2 to their collection box, or share a photo online of their soup slammer with #HeatUPTheStreet for SumoSalad to donate the cost of the soup to Vinnies.
The company will also build a special campaign site for people wanting to donate straight to Vinnies.
“We will do radio advertising to support the campaign to make sure we create additional awareness and get people to pay one soup forward at SumoSalad to people in need,” Orrenius said.
“Mark Maloney, our Executive Chairman, and Luke Baylis our CEO will both participate in this event to make sure we raise more money for this important journey to help make a difference.”
She said that SumoSalad expects to raise more than $100,000 during the campaign.
