Tork elevates Royal Randwick racecourse washrooms

The brief for the $150 million redevelopment of Royal Randwick racecourse was to create a world-class spectator, dining and entertainment facility for racing and events. The question with a project of this scale is, how to ensure high functionality, particularly in washrooms, whilst maintaining architecturally directed “style”?

According to Chris Wilson, Projects Manager, Australian Turf Club, the answer was relatively easy. Wilson already had his eye on Tork® since seeing it in place on the global stage. “Tork is massive in Europe and it just works; it’s simple, and easy to use and of course for this project it helped that it also looks better than other products,” he says.

So Wilson recommended Tork Elevation, the only fully coordinated, design award-winning dispenser range on the market. Given two international design awards for clean design and exceptional functionality (Red Dot and IF Awards) the sleek, black Tork Elevation range compliments the six stylish new Randwick Grandstand washrooms and lifts all 40 washrooms across the facility.

With up to 52,000 attending race carnivals at Randwick, the functionality of the Tork Elevation dispensers is even more important than their appearance. When asked how the dispensers are coping with the crowds Wilson replies, “It is all working well, especially the capacity of the T1 toilet paper system which is huge so we have less re-stocking and run-out.” The Tork S1 liquid soap, the S4 foam soap and H2 hand towel systems are all delivering reliably and helping to reduce usage as well. “They are standing up to high traffic,” Wilson reports. “There’s no breakdown or damage”.

With appearance and performance a sure bet, it seems the Australian Turf Club is on a winning streak with the Tork Elevation range of dispensers at the new Royal Randwick racecourse.
