Muzz Buzz transcends coffee, launches first drive-thru ATM in Oz

In effort to evolve into a lifestyle brand.

Muzz Buzz has kicked off its goal of becoming a lifestyle brand with the launch of the first commercially branded drive-thru ATM's in Australia. Popularly known as a coffee brand, the chain tells QSR Media that it is now venturing out to other industries.

"Muzz Buzz has built its brand on drive thru coffee, however the brand has transcended coffee," explained Warren Reynolds, Executive Chairman of Muzz Buzz.

"[The brand] started out 10 years ago as a retail franchising business focused on drive thru coffee, however the Muzz Buzz brand has demonstrated over that time its utility and adaptability to different products and services, which have in turn has created new sources of revenue for the business and created growth opportunities beyond the drive thru coffee sector."

Reynolds assures its loyal customers that coffee will remain one of its core product offerings, recognizing its importance in its core business in Australia. However, as the brand becomes global, coffee will just be one of a number of products and services under the Muzz Buzz brand.

In the past two years, Muzz Buzz has expanded to Asia, the Middle East and Europe and have tapped into major consumer growth markets such as China and Japan through a series of Agreements. In this growth, the brand is looking into more than just coffee.

"There’s no doubt that in Australia we are still primarily known as a drive thru coffee business, however in our new markets we are positioning ourselves as a consumer lifestyle brand," he said.

The brand is now putting its efforts on enhancing the customer experience making it fun and entertaining, instead of putting focus on products.

"This focus makes our customers feel a much greater sense of loyalty to our brand and a strong sense of identification with our brand," adding, "It is this focus on the customer, and not taking ourselves too seriously, that we believe sets us apart."

He noted that like other global lifestyle consumer brands such as Virgin and Billabong, the Muzz Buzz brand can be applied to a much wider range of products and services and is well positioned to take on some of the more established brands.

DRIVE-THRU ATMs

Muzz Buzz recently announced the launch of the very first commercially branded drive-thru ATM's in Australia, dubbing it as the "Muzz Buzz Money Machines."

The first Muzz Buzz Money Machine opened last on the corner of Bannister Road and South Street in Canningvale, Western Australia, and has received good feedback from the locals.

"Drive thru ATM’s have been in the US for almost 30 years, however they have never really taken off in Australia. This is mainly because the banks control 99% of the ATM’s in Australia and they aren’t exactly renowned for their innovation or customer service," Reynolds explained.

"Our inspiration was to provide Australians with a new banking experience that would provide them with enhanced convenience and safety and a unique Muzz Buzz experience."

According to him, the ATMs are also a way of rewarding customer loyalty by way of offering redeemable vouchers and discounts for every customer of the Muzz Buzz money machines. The brand will also be donating a small percentage of each transaction fee to charity.

Housed within a stand alone kiosk, the drive-thru ATMs can be positioned in a shopping centre car park and will be a separate stand alone service offering to the Muzz Buzz Drive Thru Coffee store. The brand plans to open up more locations around the Perth metropolitan area in the next few months.

"The ATM is designed to be a stand-alone structure which can be located in a shopping centre car park or next to an existing Muzz Buzz Drive Thru coffee store. [They] don’t need to be associated with our drive thru coffee store offering, which means we have a huge range of potential new sites to locate our Muzz Buzz Money Machines in to maximise our exposure and bring our enhanced Muzz Buzz experience to our customers," Reynolds added.
