Hudsons Coffee to sell from a van

New store concept to be launched in Melbourne.

Hudsons Coffee will be launching its new points of sale in the Chirnside Park shopping centre, a 1970s Citroen H Van. Situated in a simulated roadway with curbside dining, the store can cater to 20 plus customers and offer an exclusive menu by the chain's executive chef, Peter Reffell.

“This new store concept has been some time in the making for us, and has been developed to provide a point of difference that is captivating for both landlords and customers, as well as showcasing the innovation from within our network, said Managing Director of Hudsons Coffee, Adam Summerville.

He told QSR Media, "ur new concept store feeds into a trend we believe is here to stay, unique food truck outlets. This store has been developed to provide a point of difference, combining our quality coffee offer with an iconic, destination fixed vehicle which meets the innovation retail standards of Hudsons Coffee."

“The food truck and street food scene has been growing in popularity over the past few years, and we’ll be merging this with our tried and tested store formula. The idea is to create a hybrid offering that caters for this growing market, while being based in fixed locations to ensure we can provide welcoming surroundings for our customers to relax and enjoy our coffee and food products.”

He noted that the chain wanted to create a WOW! factor for the brand. "We commissioned a specially designed and imported 1970s Citroen H Van as we wanted the truck to be unique to Australians. We wanted to create something distinctive for the Hudsons Coffee franchise, which also enabled us enough space to provide our enticing food and drink offering to the customers of Chirnside Park."

"Many of the menu options are made within the truck itself which we believe to also be a point of difference from many other café trucks operating on this same level. A lot of work went into ensuring all of the best equipment could be installed and function well within the space to create our unique breakfast and lunch menu options," he added.

"The new store concept is a fresh and exciting new addition to the range of Hudsons Coffee store types. Not only does the unique design concept provide a distinctive attraction, but in the right location it could provide a lower entry point for potential franchisees looking to join the Hudsons Coffee network."
