Craveable Brands to phase out single-use plastic bags

In a bid to help rid Australia of plastic bags, Red Rooster, Oporto, and Chicken Treat have started removing single-use plastic bags.

Some restaurants will be plastic bag-free in the next month, with 100% of the network onboard with #banthebag by July 2018.

Parent company Craveable Brands CEO Brett Houldin said, “With the growing concern about the environmental impact of plastic bags, removing single-use plastic shopping bags from our 570 restaurants across the country will see 8.8 million bags removed from circulation nationally which is equivalent to 8.8 tonnes of plastic. As an Australian business, it’s our responsibility to reduce our impact on our country and oceans wherever possible. We are excited to bring about positive change.”

The phasing out of plastic bags will begin immediately across the restaurant network with team members in full support of the initiative.
