Grilled vegetables, pre-prepared and ready to use straight out of the pack.
According to Mimmo Lubrano, the chief of Sandhurst Fine Foods, the new range of chilled tray packs are specifically for foodservice.
The Fresh Tray Packs are portion controlled, are ready to use out of the pack and have a shelf-life of 3 months. "[The] product is completely ready to use, with no preparation required and no waste saving time and resources," he explained.
Its format has been compared to the IQF packaging within frozen categories, in that users get 100% yield and the product is much more usable
In addition, tha packs are 100% Australian made from Australian growers and are virtually oil-free, appealing to health conscious end users, particularly to women, Lubrano pointed out.
The vegetables in the line up include Semi-dried tomatoes, Grilled zucchini, Grilled eggplant, Grilled peeled pumpkin, and Grilled sweet potato. The line up is based on what the company thinks suits cafes based on ingredient needs and is a reflection of Sandhurst's top performing antipasto products.
The vegetable selection also represent the best combination of the preferred vegetarian choices in foodservice.
Sandhurst is currently looking into expanding the range, noting that the next addition is likely to be Australian char grilled capsicum, supported by the growth of this segment within the retail business.
"We are developing Capsicums but recommend that customers purchase our Fat Free Fire Roasted Red Peppers in 4.2kg cans as they provide taste, texture and consistency at a budget price," said Lubrano.
