46% of Australia's annual foodservice occasions include meat, report says
The NPD Group identified chicken as the most heavily consumed meat in the country.
Aussies have eaten more meat in the past 12 months ending March 2018, according to a recent study by The NPD Group.
According to the market research company, 46% of Aussies’ 4.8 billion annual foodservice occasions include meat products. That number is up by 6% compared to last year.
Chicken is the most in-demand meat as it covers almost half of all meat services. It is also most consumed by millenials while beef is most popular among men younger than 50 years old. Fish and seafood are in-demand among people aged 50 years old and above.
Among QSR menu offerings, chicken and beef are the only ones that is said to have a positive, long-term performance.
