QSR Media's rent webinar details how chains can seek relief amidst social restrictions
The event’s speakers and panelists detailed how the pandemic is reshaping leasing arrangements.
QSR Media organised the Rent Relief for QSRs During COVID-19 and Afterwards webinar on Thursday, 7 May, assembling leaders from the QSR sector and subject matter experts to discuss how franchise restaurant businesses best deal with their rent concerns amidst uncertain times.
The webinar, predominantly attended by restaurant leaders, started with Franchise Council Australia CEO Mary Aldred, who provided a data-driven look into how franchisees from a multitude of sectors are dealing with landlords since the start of the pandemic.
Discussing how quick service retail is being affected by COVID-19, LeaseInfo CEO and founder Simon Fonteyn elaborated on the national mandatory leasing code and explained how franchised businesses can be eligible for it.
The presentations were then followed by a panel discussion, featuring Aldred, Foodco managing director Serge Infanti, San Churro CEO Giro Maurici and Australian Retail Lease Management chief executive Stephen Spring, who offered their nuanced thoughts on how leasing arrangements will look like after the pandemic amongst related issues and concerns.
The need for rent relief remains a key issue that operators are facing as the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact the QSR and fast casual restaurant industry.
