Plant-based protein trend evolving “quickly”: Nando's Australia head of food Mario Manabe
Hear him speak at our virtual event’s menu innovation panel.
For the first time, Nando’s Australia head of food Mario Manabe joins this year’s iteration of the QSR Media Sandhurst Conference & Awards, serving as a panelist on our menu innovation panel.
Other panelists include KFC SOPAC chief food innovation and technical officer Fritz Meyer, Krispy Kreme Australia product marketing manager Jasmin Clements, Sean Hall, head of culinary for Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group and Sandhurst Fine Foods CEO Mimmo Lubrano.
Get to know him in this quick Q&A:
QSR Media: What has drawn you to get involved in the multi-site restaurant industry?
Manabe: It felt like a really natural progression considering my experience. The idea of being able to work with so many different teams across our network that have different kitchen and restaurant layouts really appealed to me as I knew it would be a fun challenge.
What are some of the industry issues you're thinking about at the moment? What are some developments you're seeing that the industry should take a closer look at?
Sustainability is something that has been on my mind more and more. Our teams within our central support office have been working closely with our sustainability manager to outline the goals we want to accomplish and the steps necessary to achieve those goals. Plant-based protein is one industry development to watch as it’s evolving so quickly!
What can we expect from your participation at the QSR Media Sandhurst Conference & Awards? What are some things you're excited to do there?
I’m thrilled to be a part of the QSR Media Sandhurst Conference and Awards. I’m particularly excited about the discussions that will take place, and the sharing of knowledge amongst everyone involved. There are so many talented people in this industry, and I think this will be a great learning experience for myself and hopefully for all who participate.
