Gelatissimo opens first U.S. store
New stores are also set to open in Australia this year.
Gelatissimo officially opened its first store in the U.S. last month, located in Houston, Texas.
The outlet, initially targeted to open in June 2021, gave away nearly 1,000 free scoops, including samples of the store’s limited edition ‘Taste of Houston’ flavours such as Bourbon Caramel & Pecan and Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake.
“We are so thrilled to have officially opened our first US store,” Gelatissimo chief executive Filipe Barbosa said in an announcement. “Now the next chapter begins as we look to further opportunities for growth throughout America and globally.”
The brand’s first store in Honolulu, Hawaii is also set to launch in the coming months.
“We have spent a long time considering Hawaii,” Barbosa said. “We wanted to get the position and store concept just right for our first venture into such an iconic holiday locale.”
New stores are also set to open in Australia this year, including three in Queensland in Airlie Beach, Ipswich and Carindale, and a fourth in Cockle Bay, in Sydney’s Darling Harbour.
Gelatissimo’s flagship Watson’s Bay address will undergo a “significant” revamp to showcase the gelato chain’s new branding and design.
The new concept is slated for release mid-year, in recognition of Gelatissimo’s 20th anniversary.
“We have spent the last two decades enjoying sustainable growth and increasing brand awareness nationally and feel the time is now right to really ramp up our international presence and continue our Australian expansion,” Barbosa said.
