Domino's strong results in Australasia and Japan

More investment in digital is slated for the group.

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises (DMP), the publicly listed company that holds the master franchise for Domino’s Pizza in Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Monaco and a major shareholding in Japan has announced its half year results.

Highlights include:
- NPAT of AUD 20.2 mill, an increase of 38.8%
- A record 60 new store openings across the Group, including the 600th Australasian store
- In Japan, surpassing Pizza Hut to be the number two pizza outlet, based on total network sales
- Same store sales growth of 7.8% in Japan and 5.6% in Australia
- EBITDA growth of 21.3% in Australia and New Zealand
- Dividends up 14.2% to 17.7 c per share
- Over 60% of sales in Australia coming from online sources, 50% of which are from mobile devices

However, the news wasn’t all positive. Europe  has underpeformed, prompting a management shake-up and the implementation of a number of initiatives including extended trading hours and increased marketing spend. “As a result of the market not meeting expectations, we have gone through a significant restructure in the European markets with a new senior management team in place including Andrew Rennie in the role of CEO Europe (and France)” Group CEO and Managing Director Don Meij says.
