Eagle Boys Express looks into more unconventional locations

New market, new opportunities.

Eagle Boys Express Brand Manager Robin Heslehurst tells QSR Media that the brand continues to grow and currently have 12 new stores planned in various businesses across Australia with the number of stores set to reach 70 by the end of 2015.

"This plan includes installing the Eagle Boys Express system into a number of retail businesses where it was previously nontraditional to serve pizzas," he noted.

"The convenience store model is an example of where pizza wasn’t traditionally served, however, the Express system is now conventional within a number of outlets. The system, in its 10th year, is successful within these outlets because it is designed to fit into existing businesses, in small spaces with the added benefit of using the store’s existing equipment and staffing."


The chain recently announced that a long-term partnership with NightOwl has allowed Eagle Boys Express to now be found in seven of its stores in locations from Lismore to Cairns.

"Eagle Boys Express began the partnership with fellow Australian brand, NightOwl Convenience in 2006 when NightOwl was looking for an additional hot food offering for their customers and to enhance revenue for the brand’s franchisees. Installing an Eagle Boys Express system was the solution," recounted Heslehurst.

"Eagle Boys Express saw this as an extremely worthwhile partnership. This enabled the brand to grow and expand its footprint, not only within the NightOwl network, but it was anticipated that the exposure would also assist in building the brand within retail outlets throughout Australia."

He added that the location of NightOwl stores is a major advantage for the brand, with most stores located in high foot traffic areas, catering for busy people who want to make purchases quickly.

NightOwl Convenience and Eagle Boys Express share many great synergies, according to Heslehurst. "NightOwl customers want convenience in service and products while Eagle Boys Express strives to provide hungry customers with hot, fresh, great valued food ‘on the go’. NightOwl Convenience stores trade through extended opening hours – with some open 24 hours, this means Eagle Boys Express products are served throughout the day and night, with the menu including pizza, pasta, sandwiches and oven baked southern style chicken. All products are cooked in less than three minutes."

Adding, "Eagle Boys Express will continue to excel in convenience stores, while succeeding in other businesses with high foot traffic such as within airports, stadiums and cinemas."
