Below is a Q&A with Sally Spriggs, KFC Australia spokesperson.

QSR Media: What inspired the brand to come up with this recipe?

Spriggs: More and more Australians are now opting for chicken ‘off the bone’ as they seek greater convenience and more food options on the go.

Original Recipe Boneless is designed specifically for Australians who don’t like the messiness of ‘the bones’ but still want to enjoy our great tasting chicken, packed with the Original Recipe flavour our customers know and love.

QSR Media: How are customers responding to the new product?

Spriggs: Our customers have loved the succulent taste of Original Recipe Boneless that upholds the traditional of the Colonel’s famous 11 herbs and spices, as well as the ease and convenience of a product that can be eaten anywhere, anytime.

QSR Media: Why did the brand decide to reinvigorate its offering and give it a more modern twist?

Spriggs: KFC is on a journey to modernise its menu, recognising that consumer attitudes and behaviour are continuing to evolve.

We know that our customers want more choice, more convenience and more value, while still maintaining the great taste people know and love – we’re committed to giving our customers what they want and contemporising our menu and customer experience to do so.

QSR Media: How do you think customers will respond to this?

Spriggs: We expect our customers to love the easy to eat of Original Recipe Boneless. As always, we haven’t sacrificed our great taste to create a product that will resonate with new consumer behaviours.

QSR Media: There have been some comments on Facebook about what part of the chicken is used in the new range, can you clarify?

Spriggs: The process of creating boneless chicken involves a new, innovative piece of equipment that our suppliers have used specifically for Original Recipe Boneless.

We’ve worked closely with our suppliers to create a Boneless product made from a combination of fresh breast, thigh and drum fillet chicken.

The Boneless chicken is delivered fresh to our 600 stores daily, so our KFC chefs can bread them in-store with the Colonel’s 11 herbs and spices.
