3,000 to 5 - Find out which flavours are in the running to be Trampoline Gelato’s latest

Competition to find a new flavour announces finalists.



Trampoline Gelato has announced the finalists in its competition to launch a new flavour. After receiving more than 3,000 entries from loyal customers, the list has been whittled down to 5. The candidates include:

- Date night – sticky date with crunchy pecans, real pudding pieces and butterscotch
- I Heart Fairy Floss – gelato swirled with homemade strawberry coulis and popping candy
- Jammin’ Donut – cinnamon with donut chunks and raspberry coulis
- Say Cheese! Cheesecake – NY style cheescake with bittersweet cocoa and cookie dough chunks
- Toffee Apple – sweet and sour apple gelato in a sticky caramel sauce

Stan Gordon, CEO of Trampoline Gelato answers our questions about the campaign:

QSR Media: How are they deciding on new flavours?
Gordon: At Trampoline, there’s a number of ways we come up with new flavours, and the ‘Create The Flavour. Own The Flavour’ competition is a great way to get our fans involved to tell us what they’d love to see in store.

At Trampoline HQ, we’ve got our thinking caps on a permanent fun setting, to ensure we’re coming up with fresh, exciting, unique flavour ideas, and we love receiving customer feedback and suggestions, which is where the idea for our latest competition stemmed from!


QSR Media: Will they be trialling them in store for customers to vote on or deciding themselves?
Gordon:
The top five flavours in the running to win are currently being voted on by our loyal fans via a bespoke application housed on the Trampoline Gelato Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/trampolinegelato/app_812877445405138


QSR Media: What was the process involved in picking the finalists?
Gordon:
It was a pretty long process, especially considering the amount of entries we received!

Once the entry stage of the competition closed, our Flavour Guru’s at Head Office developed a shortlist of around 30–40 of the best flavour ideas. The ones that were a little unique or had a touch of quirkiness about them definitely grabbed out attention, but we also had to consider flavours that would be viable to make and appealing to a wide range of people.

The Flavour Guru’s again voted to determine the most popular suggestions, bringing the list down to the top five. For flavours receiving similar entries – we had lots of Fairy Floss and Apple variations - we opted for the entries that included a little something extra, to make them that little bit more unique and fun!

QSR Media: Once chosen, will the flavour be available in all stores? Will it be sold on a permanent basis or for a limited time?
Gordon:
Yes! The winning flavour will be sold across all thirteen Trampoline Gelato stores during the month of April, and, if it’s a hit, we’ll look to add it to our flavour selection permanently… But you’ll have to wait and see!


QSR Media: Does the winning entrant receive a prize?
Gordon:
Aside from basking in gelato flavour creation glory, the Flavour Mastermind will earn $1 from every litre of their flavour sold in store during the month of April (up to $2000), plus 10 litres of their gelato flavor creation as well. All in all, it will be a pretty sweet prize for our one lucky winner!


QSR Media: When will the winner be announced?
Gordon:
Trampoline’s Flavour Mastermind will be announced on Facebook and showered with gelato glory on Thursday 13 March after the campaign’s voting phase has closed and votes have been tallied to determine the most popular flavour!


QSR Media: What were some of the flavour suggestions you rejected?
Gordon:
With over 3,000 entries received, you can imagine there were some very funny flavour creations… as well as some which were quite questionable! 

One trend we noticed was culinary and dessert inspired recipes, with a host of flavours like Vanilla Slice, Red Velvet, Carrot Cake and Apple Rhubarb Crumble received. Iconic drink inspired flavours, such as Cola, Ginger Beer, Creamy Soda, Pink Lemonade and Mojito also proved popular.

Trampoline’s flavour offering is surprisingly different, a bit kooky and quirky, so we like to think the entries we received are reflective of our brand – we’re all about having a bit of fun!
