Zambrero unveils muesli bars for charity
The Mexican chain introduced new muesli bars to its menu, in partnership with Foodbank to feed Australia’s hungry.
“Zambrero sells fresh, healthy, flavorsome Mexican meals for a reason: to help eradicate world hunger,” General Manager Karim Messih said.
“Zambrero achieves its humanitarian aims through its Plate 4 Plate initiative where, for every burrito or bowl Zambrero sells it donates a meal to someone in need.”
“Until now our aid efforts were focused overseas, but on learning two million Australians now rely on food relief we’ve partnered with Foodbank to do something about the hunger problem in our own backyard for the first time,” Messih said.
The muesli bars are priced at $3.90 and comes in two flavors: almonds, honey muesli, goji berries and amaranth puff; and cashews, honey muesli, lime, chia seeds and chilli.
Every bar sold will fund a Foodbank breakfast for an Australian in need.
“Hunger is a hidden crisis in our own backyard with 1 in 10 Australians - half of whom are children - seeking food relief each year,” Foodbank Australia CEO, Jason Hincksm said.
“Despite our best efforts over 60,000 people are still being turned away from charities empty handed each month due to a shortage of food and resources. This new commitment by Zambrero will help us to bridge that gap and achieve our vision of an Australia without hunger.”
“Both bars are distinguished by being truly healthy, with no refined sugar and no preservatives, and the chilli lime combo in the cashew bar really zings with Zambrero’s inimitable Mexican flavour,” says Karim Messih.
