The chain now offers $4.95 pizzas, while the most expensive pizza range is capped at $8.50. In addition, the chain will not charge extra for chicken.
According the Pizza Hut's Head of Marketing Fatima Syed, this change is a big move for the brand and the entire pizza category, emphasising that the chain has been planning towards the new direction for some time.
"Pizza Hut is a well known brand, and our consumers expect to be able to get their favourite pizzas at an affordable price. We have spent the last few months working through this, making sure we can offer consumers the same great tasting pizza using quality ingredients – all at the lowest prices."
Noting, "we are revolutionising the pizza industry in Australia by offering Australians better value all day, every day."
Syed explained that the broader QSR industry seems to be moving towards a single price point. "In looking at our own pricing structure, we felt there were improvements to be made to strengthen our value offer and make a pricing and menu structure more relevant to consumers."
Aside from dropping prices, the chain has also simplified its menu. It now has two pizza ranges at two simple price points -- the Classics range for $4.95 with six pizzas to choose from such as Pepperoni Feast & Big Cheese and the Favourites range for $8.50 with 11 pizzas to choose from such as Super Supreme and BBQ Meatlovers.
Pizza Hut has also recently upgraded the quality of some of its major ingredients, such as a new, thicker ham sourced from leaner pork cuts and wood-smoked bacon made from premium pork belly.
"Quality is at the core of our pizzas and with our new pricing, pizza lovers can get the best of both worlds – great tasting pizzas at a great price," she said.
