Guess how The Burrito Bar found its ‘Awesomeness Arrangers’
The job ad has even gone viral.
Sam Canavan, a freelance journalist and the Marketing/Communications Coordinator of the Australian Franchising Corporation, is also the author of the job advertisement that caught quite an attention on social media and has gone viral.
The listing was posted on SEEK, one of Australia’s largest employment billboard. The job ad earned over 25,000 views in less than five days since it went up on the site.
The job ad wrote, “Wanted: Brisbane’s best, brightest and bubbliest. Hate serving customers? Always grumpy and downcast? Devoid of personality? Love listening to Nickelback? We want the exact opposite of you!!! Salary varies, depending on awesomeness.”
Canavan wanted the ad to be unique and fresh, veering away from the formally worded method of job listing. “I knew not everyone would like the ad, for various reasons. In fact, I anticipated a large chunk of the feedback would be negative,” said Canavan.
Since its posting, the ad had more than 1000 Facebook ‘recommendations,’ and 200 twitter posts, 80 of which were negative. However, Canavan believes that ‘any publicity is good publicity.’
“The advertisement was so targeted that the 80 people who turned up for the interviews fit the exact mould I was trying to fill for this role, and we could have hired pretty much everybody, so high was the quality of applicants. As it turned out, The Burrito Bar got its ‘awesomeness arrangers’ and we are already seeing their value—after less than a week in the role,” added Canavan.
