Domino's Same Store Sales grew 10.9%
At Domino's 2011 half year results in February, the Company announced double digit growth across its Australian market, the strongest in the last eight years.
Strong earnings and same store sales growth in Australia for the first half of the 2011 Financial Year has seen Domino’s fast track its new store building program across the country with 35 stores currently under development and set to open this calendar year.
As a result of this, new site developments have been fast-tracked to keep up with customer demand and new franchisee enquiries.
Domino’s Chief Development and Franchising Officer Pat McMichael said the number of new store openings before the end of the calendar year means it will be one of the biggest growth periods for the brand in Australia.
“In the 2011 calendar year we plan to open 35 new stores across Australia in both city and regional locations as part of our building program for this market,” Mr McMichael said
“This period of new store growth will be one of the biggest in recent times in terms of organic store growth for Australia.
“We currently have 456 stores in the country but as the population grows and new regional hubs emerge there is now a high demand for new stores.
“We are confident we have selected the right locations for successful stores and our recent strong sales performance means we have new and existing franchisees ready to go in these stores as soon as they built.”
Mr McMichael said new franchisee interest in the Domino’s Pizza business was at an all time high following the appearance on Undercover Boss Australia late last year and this had steadily increased since the Company reported solid first half results for the 2011 Financial Year.
“Our appearance on Undercover Boss Australia late last year opened up our business to a whole new audience of prospective franchisees and small business owners. The show gave them an invaluable insight into the daily operations of our business, something which many new business owners don’t get the opportunity to see,” Mr McMichael said.
“Strong sales success in the first half of the 2011 Financial Year has also given our business greater appeal over other franchise businesses.”
