Domino's reach one million Facebook fans

A significant milestone for the chain.

Earlier this year the Domino's Pizza launched a new brand mantra at the heart of their operations, "People Powered Pizza," utilising the opinions of Facebook fans on big business decisions.

“We were early adopters of Facebook and we truly believe in its power to reach our engaged community. People know and trust in the process; that they can come to our pages any time and get responses to their questions and know their concerns will be resolved by our social media team," said Domino's Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Don Meij.

A few months ago, the chain announced its move to 24 hour social media monitoring, which was critical in the success of its new mantra.

“We listen to the feedback our fans and followers provide us – it’s invaluable and our pizzas couldn’t be half as good as they are today without the thousands (now millions) of people telling us how to make them better and a lot of these come from our Facebook page,” said Meij.

He noted that social media is a strong part of the chain's marketing strategy. More than Facebook, the chain’s progressive social media strategy now includes new apps including Vine, Jelly and Snapchat.
