Cold Rock Ice Creamery ranked 31st fastest growing franchise by revenue

The ice cream chain, owned by Melbourne-based Franchised Food Company, has climbed the ranks of BRW's Fast Franchises list for 2011.

According to Cold Rock Ice Creamery, the ice cream chain also jumped from 33 to 27 on the list for fastest growing franchises by outlets.

“We’ve invested a lot of time and effort into improving our business model and expansion strategy to ensure Cold Rock remains one of Australia’s leading franchises,” FFCo executive chairman Stan Gordon said.

“Cold Rock is an ice cream retailer with many differences, particularly in the way we approach our business. We proudly aspire to achieve excellence in our products, customer service and operations and our vision is that Cold Rock franchisees benefit from the continuing growth of the brand and its systems.”

Cold Rock’s revenue exceeded $35 million for the 2009-10 financial year, recording an annual average growth of 21.3 per cent.

Store numbers have grown an average of 17.3 per cent annually to 95 outlets nationwide.

“More exciting times are ahead for Cold Rock with the 100th store due to open in the coming months,” Mr Gordon said.

The first Australian Cold Rock Ice Creamery store opened in Aspley in Brisbane’s north in 1996. FFCo, which also owns Mr Whippy, Pretzel World and Nutshack, acquired Cold Rock in 2009.
