QSR Media Conference 2014: 51% of smartphone use in Australia is related to searching about Food and Beverage

8 out of 10 people of the 51% make a transaction.

"That's a really high volume of people that are transacting," said Sue Savage, Director - Restaurant and Leisure Sales at MICROS. Adding, companies need presence in that space in order to be competitive.

In a study she presented, online sales has grown 300% since 2010. Another study showed that 43% prefer to order online or mobile; 42% are interested in loyal programs; 77% transact via stored value; and 42% return rate for historical recognition.

These has attributed to sales uplift and for establishments to ride on this growth, M-commerce must be embraced.
