Domino’s inks deal with Uber
This allows Uber One subscribers in Australia to use their membership to unlock free delivery on every Domino’s order.
Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd (Domino’s) and Uber have signed a global deal, which will provide local Uber customers even greater value when ordering their favour pizza.
The global agreement lets allows customers to order Domino's products through the Uber Eats and Postmates apps with delivery by the trained delivery experts of Domino's and its franchisees. In the U.S., the rollout of the agreement will begin this fall in four pilot markets, with ordering on the Uber Eats and Postmates apps anticipated to be enabled across the country by the end of 2023.
In Australia, Domino’s Pizza and Uber, will allow Uber One subscribers in Australia to use their membership to unlock free delivery on every Domino’s order for the first time.
Domino’s Group CEO & Managing Director Don Meij said the agreement was a win for customers and a win for franchisees serving pizza across Domino’s 750 Australian stores.
“We are excited that Uber, the largest delivery aggregator in the Australian market, and Domino’s, Australia’s most popular pizza, are joining forces to offer even more value to customers,” Meij said.
The global deal made the headlines because previously, the former Domino’s CEO Ritch Allison rejected the idea of outsourcing delivery to third-party aggregators in its US market saying it’s not clear why they would want to give up their franchisees’ margin or give up the data in their business to ‘some third party who will ultimately use it against us.’
