Yum! ends franchisee legal dispute

Cowin’s Competitive Foods acquired by Collins Foods Limited.

The long running legal dispute between KFC and Competitive Foods, which runs 42 franchises in the NT and WA, is finally over, following Collins Foods acquisition of the franchise group.

Commenting on the matter KFC Managing Director Tony Lowings said “Despite the differences arising between our respective companies, we appreciate the contribution that Jack has made to our system as such a longstanding franchisee... We look forward to our operations in WA and NT continuing to perform strongly under the management of Collins Food Group, the largest KFC Franchisee in Australia”.

For his part, it seems Cowin’s owner Jack Cowin is also pleased with the outcome saying “There was a break-down in the franchisor-franchisee relationship, but ultimately we were able to both agree on a way forward to get to an agreeable outcome”.
