Gloria Jean’s coffee expert bags gold at tasters competition
7 coffees identified in under 4 minutes.
The AASCA Cup Tasters Competition presents participants with eight groups of coffees, with each group containing two identical cups and one different brew. Equipped with a great sense of taste and smell, participants compete to identify which is the imposter coffee in the fastest possible time.
Elisha Mauger bagged the top spot, by identifying seven coffees in a record-breaking time of three minutes and 17 seconds. The competition came close as Elisha’s closest competitor came in only four seconds slower.
Elisha has been a store manager for three and a half years. “Working at Gloria Jean’s really helped me grow a love for coffee and an appreciation for its nuances,” says Elisha.
Elisha will be representing Australia at the World Cup Tasting Championships at the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) World of Coffee Event in Nice, France.
