Zarraffa's Coffee acquires One for the Road coffee chain
Critical to the expansion plans was the retention of the One for the Road staff.
Zarraffa’s Coffee CEO Kenton Campbell said, “Our plan is to make the transition for both staff and customers as smooth as possible and we will spend time operating the One for the Road businesses before rebranding.”
The major expansion move for Zarraffa’s who operates 52 traditional and drive thru coffee stores on the East Coast, will see the five WA sites in Currambine, Ellenbrook, Peppermint Grove, Canning Vale, and Kalgoorlie run as corporate stores at the outset.
Mr Campbell said, “We will work side-by-side with the One for the Road team from early August learning from each of the businesses and familiarising ourselves with the local market. Later in the year we will look to transition the stores to our branding and operation.”
There was a clear agreement from both sides that all One for the Road staff retain their jobs in the transition and beyond.
Perth–based property developer Scott Paterson, who launched One for the Road in 2006, said that while it will be sad to move on he knows Mr Campbell and his team are the right fit.
“I had made several trips to Queensland over the past three years and was familiar with the Zarraffa’s operation and coffee. I always saw the brands as very similar with many other synergies in terms of product and service,” he said.
Mr Paterson said the decision to sell was made after he realised that he and his wife had taken the brand as far as they could and it was the right time to investigate who would be best to shepherd the operation to the next level.
