Taste of Europe targets interstate growth in 2014

Concept also expanding with optional bar license.

2014 promises to be a critical period of growth for Taste of Europe, as the Australian-owned bakery-patisserie-café brand opens more stores and expands to other states by the end of the year.

Taste of Europe franchisor said that he is “aiming to roll out more [stores] by the end of the year and go interstate as well.”

Franchise and concept expansions

Bolstered by its popularity, Taste of Europe decided to venture into franchising in 2012, and so far it has expanded into a three-store operation. Two stores are currently running, latest of which is at Broadway Shopping Centre Broadway, with a third signed up, said Taste of Europe franchisor Fotios Koutsioukis.

Koutsioukis highlighted several benefits for potential Taste of Europe franchisees. First and foremost is that new stores will offer quality products that appeal to all ages, including what could arguably be its biggest draw: Scrumptious coffee.

“Our customers are both young and old, mums and dads offering great value to all our customers,” said Koutsioukis. “Taste of Europe has a passion for coffee and has European origin coffees on its menu from Spanish, Greek, French, Italian, Swiss, Irish, Portuguese, Belgium and other.”

Franchisees will also be following a proven business model that has been running since the first outlet opened in Sydney’s Double Bay back in 2004. Opening a Taste of Europe store is also affordable compared to other startups, said Koutsioukis.

Taste of Europe also boasts of a storied baker heritage and unique concept, which will help draw in customers and lift them from the glut of competing bakeries, patisseries and cafes.

“We are fourth generation bakers who introduced the Sourdough bread back in 1991 and in 2004 created a concept of three-in-one bakery, patisserie, café,” recalled Koutsioukis.

But despite its strong tradition, Taste of Europe also seems willing to adapt to the times, updating its concept to suit the needs of the market.

Koutsioukis said that its Broadway store will soon have a bar licence, an additional option to the concept to mirror the experience in Europe.
