Mad Mex achieves record first day sales in Harbourside
Mad Mex catered to over 1,000 locals on its opening day at the new location.
According to a release, Mad Mex’s new restaurant was embraced by Pyrmont residents as over 1 000 locals flocked to try Australia’s leading Baja-Californian cuisine. With 15 outlets nationally, the Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill chain broke its own record with opening day sales at the new Harbourside location. At close of business earnings at Harbourside were 168% of the previous best opening day for the leading Australian brand.
“With over 1 250 meals served and 50 litres of our new frozen Margarita sold, Pyrmont residents welcomed Mad Mex with open arms. Social media was a buzz with photo’s flooding in on Twitter and the queues were out the door and on to the street. We could not be happier. Despite the worst retail environment in several decades Mad Mex’s success proves that innovative concepts which provide exceptional value and a strong point of difference can achieve extraordinary results,” said Clovis Young, founder of Mad Mex.
Mad Mex was one of a group of national flagship food brands courted by the Harbourside centre, part of an effort to reinvigorate and redevelop its image with tourists andlocal residents that pass through the complex each day. Yesterday’s trade shows Harbourside as the real winner in securing Australia’s leading Mexican food outlet.
Positioned at the Pyrmont Bridge entrance, the restaurant sits directly opposite burger brand Grill’d. Despite being removed from the central food court, the Mad Mex restaurant location has proven its ability to capture passing traffic.
“The level 3 Fresh Food Precinct at the Pyrmont Bridge side of Harbourside Shopping Centre hashistorically under delivered in range and quality, however the centre is now committed to a compelling offer, and sought after Mad Mex to sit across from Grill’d Burgers. Mad Mex was chosen to provide an authentic Mexican option that is quick, healthy and affordable to service the strong flow of passing commuter and tourist foot traffic that use the Pyrmont bridge to commute to the city,” said Clovis Young, founder of Mad Mex.
Offering restaurant quality food, Mad Mex has been a leader in the ‘fast casual’ concept in Australia, one that has proven popular through tougher economic times as diners placed greater emphasis on value for money. Having opened the doors to its first restaurant in November 2007, Mad Mex has also been a significant player in the Mexican food market that has boomed in Australia over the past four years.
