Email, video of Grill'd founder Simon Crowe tackling pending story on alleged management issues surface

A copy of the email and video sent to a Grill’d staff on 27 November was uploaded on Twitter.

A screenshot of an alleged email and a video of Grill’d founder Simon Crowe have surfaced online, which tackled a pending news story on the burger chain’s management issues.

A copy of the said email titled “Urgent update from our founder Simon Crowe” allegedly sent to a Grill’d staff at 5:45 p.m on 27 November was uploaded on Twitter by UTS Journalism student Alex Turner-Cohen.

“Any suggestion that we have fallen short of our values is one that I take very seriously,” the email read.

“We are aware of a pending media story that will wrongly claim we have worked against the interests of our franchise partners, and our restaurant teams, including how we conduct our training,” it added.

Continuing the Twitter thread was a video uploaded by user slowdive stan which showed Crowe giving a statement.

“We are a people-led business, and we are always trying to do the right thing via our people, via our franchise partners and the many stakeholders in the Grill’d ecosystem,” Crowe said in the video which supposedly came with the email.

“Our values of passion, leadership, ownership and trust have been part of our fabric since the beginning and they remain. That’s how we will engage with you, we will listen, we will learn and we will always strive to make Grill’d a better place than she is today,” he added.

Grill’d has declined to provide comments regarding both email and video.
