Chu pleads to diners to save MissChu
Uses facebook to garner support.
Reported to be under $4 million in Debt, Vietnamese refugee-turned-entrepreneur Nahji Chu, has taken to Facebook to ask diners to continue patronizing MissChu.
In the chain's official Facebook page, Chu wrote: "In 2013, I made a few false moves by opening London as a trial and allowed the business to be mismanaged and therefore accumulated some debt and now it’s up for grabs. Whilst I await for the administrators to determine who owns my company, I want to marshall the support of everyone who knows and appreciates how rare brands that invest in the arts, design and your nutrition are in Australia."
"Am I begging, am I pleading? Yes, a little bit. But in my heart this simply feels like a call to action: GO AND EAT MISSCHU FOOD! Doing so literally ensures that this brand continues."
Earlier this month, KordaMentha were appointed as administrators of MissChu and took full control of the chain's New South Wales operations.
According to Rahul Goyal, one of the voluntary administrators of the chain, "it appeared that the financial pressures of MissChu have been caused by the lack of controls over fixed costs in the business, the expansion of the retail tuckshops through trading and the closure of the Opera House premises without notice."
Chu noted into her post that "I didn’t grow too quickly. I grew in the wrong direction at the last minute, London was a mistake but Sydney and Melbourne are still thriving."
Adding, "Having said that, the temporary failure of misschu Sydney has to be mine. I am the company director and I take all the blame. But I will save it.... I'm still here running the business and will forever more, no matter who buys the company. Please help me save MissChu."
